The second thing I did was to go to Staples and bought a 50 dollars fax machine. I knew that from then on I will be faxing a lot of papers. I need to make sure l keep record of all the fax transmittal confirmation from all the documents I send either to Green Tree or to a company were I am filing a complaint against Green Tree.
On June 2010 I got approved for a modification from Citimortgage and they gave me interest rate of 2% for 5 years. I always make my mortgage payments over the phone between the 28th and 30th of every month with a debit card. The reason I do this is that I want to make sure that they post my payment the same day. After the modification I didn’t want to take the risk o any payment being lost on the mail. This way I know for sure they receive the payments. Bill pay or automatic payment, mailing checks, to me are not safe. With bill pay if you give them one little number incorrect or your bank inputs one little mistake, the transaction does not go through you are still responsible for it. Checks may get lost or if it is not register mail you have no proof you sent the payment. This is how I did it with Citimortgage and I will continue to do it with Green Tree.
When your lender sends you a letter of servicing transfer, this is standard format and it will always have the new loan number written to the upper right side. You don’t need to wait for Green Tree to send you a loan number to obtain your information from them.
On January 16th I called Green Tree at 855-297-6259. I input my new loan number (given to me by Citimortgage). The system gave my the exact amount of my payment, but then it said: Your January 1st 2015 payments was due on January 1, do you want to make the payment now? when I heard this I got furious. I press cero to talk to someone. I told the lady my loan was transferred from Citimortgage that day and I that I made my January 1st payment to Citimortgage on December 30, 2014. Why are you charging me for it again? She responded that they didn’t have all the information yet, to wait 2 to 30 days to obtain the correct information. No way! if they got the correct payment amount why wouldn’t they have the date I made that payment?
I called Citimortgage and I explain the situation. I didn’t get a very nice person from customer service at Citimortgage either. She said to wait as they told you. I said no I will not wait and I hang up. Called again to see if I got a nicer person to answer the phone, well it took me 5 calls to Citimortgage to get a nice customer service representative who was willing to help. I explain the situation. I said you need to contact them as soon as possible and tell them that I already made the January first payments. He said of curse, do not pay them again you already made that payment and for sure they have that information. He said I will contact the electronically to let them know. I asked when are you going to contact them? he said I am typing a letter as we speak. He told me do not worry, I will make sure to remind them that you already made the January 1st payment.
I wanted to rich out to as many government agency as possible to ask for help, so I also contacted Consumer Finance (a government agency). A very nice representative answered the phone, I explain my problem and he told me he could take the complaint over the phone, I could do it myself online or he could send me the forms by mail. I asked him what would they do about it. He said we will contact them and ask them to comply. I said please send me the forms by mail. I got them within 5 days.
I waited a couple of days. On January 20, I called Green Tree to see if they had changed the information. They had not. The system gave me the same wrong information as before.
