I had my loan with Citimortgage for many years. On January 5th, 2015 I got a letter from Citi stating that my loan was going to be transferred on January 16th to Green Tree Servicing LLC.
As soon as finished reading the letter I went online to find out who was going to be my new servicer. After reading the information I found I almost fainted. I could not believe that in the United States of America borrowers could be abused this way.
I immediately called Citimortgage and I ask them to send me the following documentation:
A year end escrow statement. This would show if there is any escrow shortage, if there is one, it will state the amount and whether this will affect in any way my payment for 2015. Usually there is a shortage at end of the year, taxes and insurance go up a little every year. In my case it wasn’t more than $8 to $15 dollars a year. I wanted to have the exact amount of this changes calculated by Citimortgage and not by Green Tree. This way when they transferred the loan, Citimortgage would have already printed out the Escrow analysis and they would send it together with the rest of the documents. It is usually sent in February 1st.
When I called Citimortgage, for the first time to request this document, the lady that answer the phone told me that this statements were usually mailed out on February. That I would have to wait. My answers was: I am sorry, but I need you to do it right now, I will not wait until February. My loan is being transfer January 16th and I need you to print out a year end escrow statement right at this moment, you can do it. She said, we are not allowed to do that, I said yes you are. I am not asking you for any favor, I am a customer and this is my right. That is a document that you need to provide me with. She said please hold on, I will go ask my supervisor. I waited and when she came back, she said ok I already done for you. You will receive it within 7 to 10 business days.
Then I said, I also need you to send me:
A mortgage payment history which would show that my payments were made on time for the last 4 and a half years. The February statement showing my January 1st payment was made on December 30, 2014.•A letter stating that my January first payment was made on December 30th, 2014.
She said that I would receive everything within 7 business days.
After a couple of days I received all the documents I requested from Citimortgage. Knowing how Green Tree operates, I needed it to have proof that I am up to date with everything regarding my mortgage.
